Making my own Earthbound Poster

A few weeks back I wrote about the original Earthbound promo poster on eBay and the unbelievable price it ended up going for. It got me thinking, if it’s so hard to get a Earthbound poster…why don’t I just make one? I mean, Earthbound fans are well known for their creativity, so I should be able to cook up something. So that’s just what I did.

First step was getting the material. I remembered Nintendo Power #70 has a good preview about Earthbound, but there was an even larger one in issue #73. I searched around my collection for old issues, but I wasn’t able to find it. Just as I was about to give up hope, I saw one for sale on eBay for $5.20. (GET!)

Once I had the magazine I cut out the pages, bought a frame from a local frame shop ($34.99) and snagged a few mattes for the frame. ($6.00) I couldn’t use the entire story because it was too big, so I decided just to use the main splash and the interview with Itoi. It took me a few days to get it organized right, but I’m pretty pleased with the results. Hopefully when I get older my wife will let me keep this on display.

“Honey, enough with the Earthbound stuff!”  :D
